Dear Collector,

We would appreciate any information about this old pitcher. It has been in our family a long time. Markings are: “Sarreguemines, 3181,” and another series of numbers.

Sarreguemines (taking its name from a French city) was a longtime maker of majolica. The four digit number denotes the pattern, while the others provide a date of 1905. Not a difficult item to find, your jug has a potential value of $100 to $125.

Dear Collector,

We bought this unopened Tennessee Ernie Ford record at a yard sale for 25 cents. What is its value?

Released by Capitol in 1962, your mint “Hymns at Home” album is listed at $12.

Dear Collector,

We have a Roseville 640-6 vase in perfect condition, no chips or cracks. Can you tell us if it has any value?

Your 6-inch high jardinière is decorated in the Roseville pattern described as Ixia (a South African flowering plant). Current value is between $175 and $200.

Dear Collector,

My daughter was given this Walt Disney Dumbo combination LP and pop-up book. She thinks it’s worth more than a few dollars; I don’t think so. Help us settle the dispute?

This record/book combo went through many editions, with both pop-up and traditional pages. Sorry to say you win. It’s only worth $6 to $10 in very good condition, which her book is not.

Dear Collector,

I have a cast-iron “Independence Hall” bank in very good condition. What is it worth?

There were at least two versions of this circa 1876 bank made by Enterprise Manufacturing, located appropriately enough in Philadelphia. Lacking a photo to determine which model you have, all I can say it that one is priced at nearly $500, while the other is worth almost twice that figure.

Dear Collector,

I have a set of five first-edition Tarzan books: “Tarzan of the Apes,” etc. Any idea on the value?

Not at all! Edgar Rice Burroughs wrote over two dozen novels featuring his ape man/British lord character. Published in numerous languages, the Tarzan stories have been constantly in print since 1912. Because of some quirk, newer books may still carry the original copyright date. Write back with titles, publisher’s names, binding color and perhaps some photos of the copyright pages, and I’ll be able to answer you.

Dear Collector,

Could you let me know if this 1891 silver dollar has any value?

Struck in Carson City (CC), your Morgan dollar, on the average, is more valuable than those produced in other mints. The reason for this is because considerably fewer coins were made in that city. Even though it’s in circulated condition, it is still worth almost $100.

Dear Collector,

My parents bought this game shown in the enclosed photos back in the 1960s. I think all the pieces are still inside. What do you think it is worth?

A 1968 Hasbro board game, “Squeeze Your Bippy” was derived from TV’s “Laugh-In.” Value is $45 to $60.
