Achievements : Area residents graduate from basic military training

“The following seven area residents recently graduated from basic training at Lackland Air Force Base, San Antonio.

Air Force Airman Patrick Flanagan, a 2000 graduate of Colville High School, is the son of Randy Flanagan of Colville and Shannon Kaiser of Spokane.

Air Force Airman 1st Class Richard Hernandez, a 2003 graduate of Medical Lake High School, is the son of Richard and Yukwang Hernandez of Spokane.

Air Force Airman Rebecca Lonam, the daughter of Marian Lonam of Otis Orchards, is a 2006 graduate of East Valley High School.

Air Force Airman Kyle Ostlie, the son of Kurt Ostlie of Spokane, is a 2004 graduate of Shadle Park High School.

Air Force Airman Justin Pelham, a 2006 graduate of Cheney High School, is the son of David Pelham of Moses Lake and JoDee Hickey of Spokane.

Air Force Airman William Stout, the son of Dan and Nancy Stout of Moses Lake, is a 2006 graduate of Moses Lake High School.

Air Force Airman Tyler Vasquez is a 2002 graduate of North Central High School.

“Army National Guard Pvt. Brittney McCafferty recently graduated from basic training at Fort Jackson, S.C. She is the daughter of John McCafferty of Spokane.

“Army Reserve Pvt. Logan York recently graduated from basic training at Fort Knox, Ky. York is a 2006 graduate of Cheney High School.

“Brendon Neese was recently named an Eagle Scout, the highest award given in the Boy Scouts. Neese, a member of Troop 247, is the son of Tom and Terri Neese. For his project he cleaned up Elk Cemetery and also built new grave markers.

“Denali Tufto of Colbert was recently named to the dean’s list at Johnson and Wales University. A student must hold a grade-point average of 3.4 or above to be named to the list.

“The following students were recently named to the honor roll at Valley Christian School.

3.7-4.0: Brittany Croft, Collin Garrett, Alex Solodyankin, Rachel Snook, Janelle Wagnild and Jesse Worley.
