People: They’re back in force

From Wire Reports The Spokesman-Review

The Police will reunite to perform at this year’s Grammys ceremony, the Recording Academy announced Tuesday.

Bassist/singer Sting, drummer Stewart Copeland and guitarist Andy Summers won five Grammys and turned out hits such as “Roxanne” and “Every Breath You Take” before breaking up in 1984 amid internal strife.

They last performed together in 2003 when they were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

Sting, who went on to success as a solo artist, told the Television Critics Association earlier this month that he and his former bandmates were “talking about” doing something to commemorate their 30th anniversary.

A reunion tour also is said to be in the works.

Copeland examined his life in the band in his music documentary “Everyone Stares: The Police Inside Out,” which premiered at last year’s Sundance Film Festival.

The 49th annual Grammy Awards will air Feb. 11 on CBS.

Arrested development

Speaking of the police, and CBS, the network has tossed the reality show “Armed & Famous” into the cancellation cooler after four episodes.

The series followed five B-list celebrities – Erik Estrada (“CHiPs”), La Toya Jackson, Jack Osbourne, former pro wrestler Trish Stratus and Jason “Wee-Man” Acuna (“Jackass”) – as gun-carrying reserve officers of the Muncie Police Department.

Part of the problem: The show aired on Wednesday nights, opposite Fox’s top-rated “American Idol.”

Oh, those Paris sites

Paris Hilton has filed a federal lawsuit seeking to shut down a Web site displaying her personal photos, videos and other belongings.

The items were put in storage when Hilton and her sister moved two years ago and auctioned after fees weren’t paid – which she said the moving company was supposed to do.

“I was appalled to learn that people are exploiting my and my sisters’ private personal belongings for commercial gain,” Hilton says, adding she’s concerned the information could be used for identity theft or harassment.

For $39.97 a month, ParisExposed.com promises access to her passport, medical records and other legal documents.

Pucky day

The mayor of Oshawa, Ontario, must declare his birthday – March 20 – to be “Stephen Colbert Day” in his city after losing a hockey bet with the satirical TV pundit.

Colbert has been rooting for the Ontario Hockey League’s Saginaw Spirit after finding out the Michigan team named its mascot “Steagle Colbeagle the Eagle” in his honor.

On Friday night, the Sprit beat the Oshawa Generals, 5-4 – and now Mayor John Gray must pay up.
