Deborah Austin wins ATV

Deborah Austin and her husband, Dick, have found a new hobby.

They won a red Polaris Sportsman 500 EFI all-terrain vehicle from Les Schwab during the tire company’s Adventure Days promotion.

Austin and her youngest daughter, Jessica, were in the South Hill store, buying tires for her daughter’s car. Salespeople asked if she wanted to fill out a ticket.

“I put my name in a drawing,” Deborah Austin said. “I got lucky, I guess.”

She was surprised when the manager of the Les Schwab store on west Francis Avenue called to tell her she had won.

Austin and her husband never really have tried riding an all-terrain vehicle, but they do like to camp. Once they get a trailer to haul their new rig, the Austins say, they plan to try it out.

Deborah Austin is pretty impressed with her new toy.

“People who are in the know about these things are thrilled,” she said. “They’re drooling.”

For now, the ATV is sitting in the Austins’ garage.

“It’s pretty spiffy,” she said.
