In brief: Tours of Royal Riblet Mansion offered

The Spokesman-Review

Arbor Crest Wine Cellars is offering private tours of historic Royal Riblet Mansion and grounds, a private residence before becoming the winery’s headquarters and event grounds.

Tour guests will be given samples of Arbor Crest wines in a reserved area of the grounds and then will tour the mansion, also known as Cliff House because of its prominent location on a 425-foot cliff overlooking Spokane Valley above Upriver Drive. Tour guests also will receive a book on the history of the estate.

The 1925 mansion was designed by architect George Keith in Florentine style for Royal N. Riblet, an inventor and entrepreneur who built tramways for mining companies.

In the 1980s, brothers David and Harold Mielke restored the mansion for use as headquarters of Arbor Crest.

The house is listed on the local, state and national historic registers.

Tours cost $15 per person and are limited to five guests per tour. To schedule, contact Shelby Enevold at the tasting room at 927-9463.
