Religion notebook: Carillon concert today at St. John’s Cathedral

The Cathedral of St. John the Evangelist, 127 E. 12th Ave., will present Lee Cobb from Lake Wales, Fla., today at 7 p.m. as part of its Summer Carillon Concert series.

Cobb holds a master’s degree in organ performance from the University of Florida and joined the Guild of Carillonneurs in North America in 2004.

Audience members should bring a chair or a blanket and are invited to bring a picnic.

There will be tours of the cathedral after the performance.

“The Spokane Buddhist Temple, 927 S. Perry St., will present “Taking the Mystery Out of Buddhism” Saturday at 7 p.m.

Vacation Bible school

Southside Christian Church, 2934 E. 27th Ave., will present “Greetings from Egypt: the Great Pyramids of Giza” July 23 to 26 from 9 to 11:30 a.m.

Children in kindergarten to junior high are invited to this Vacation Bible School. There is free registration through Sunday and the fee is $15 after that.

Summer movies

The Unity Church of Truth, 2900 E. Bernard Ave., will present the movie “Illusion” starring Kirk Douglas, Wednesday at 7 p.m.

The movie is rated PG-13.
