Eagle Scout earns national scholarship

The Spokesman-Review

Recent University High School graduate Mitchell Palmquist has been selected as one of 60 Eagle Scouts nationwide to receive a $1,000 scholarship from the National Eagle Scout Association. More than 3,000 applications were submitted for various Eagle Scout Scholarship programs.

Applicants must be graduating high school seniors, Eagle Scouts, and have demonstrated leadership ability and a strong record of participation in activities outside of Scouting.

Palmquist, as a member of Troop 420, attained Eagle rank in May 2005. He is currently registered as an assistant scoutmaster for Troop 420, and plans to attend Gonzaga University and major in religious studies in the fall. His Eagle Scout Service Project involved building a storage shed for the House of Charity.

Palmquist raised $1,200 in donations of materials and money for the project.
