Twins 5, Athletics 3: At Minneapolis, Johan Santana struck out eight in seven scoreless innings to lead Minnesota to a victory over Oakland. Luis Castillo added two hits and two RBIs for the Twins, who handed the A’s their sixth loss in seven games.

Orioles 2, White Sox 0: At Baltimore, Erik Bedard pitched seven innings of three-hit ball, and Nick Markakis and Corey Patterson homered off Mark Buehrle to lead the Orioles to a victory over Chicago. Bedard struck out seven to increase his A.L.-leading total to 156.

Indians 5, Royals 4: At Cleveland, Ryan Garko singled home the winning run with one out in the ninth inning to give the Indians a win over Kansas City. Victor Martinez drove in two runs for Cleveland, which improved baseball’s best home record to 32-12.

Angels 2, Rangers 1: At Anaheim, Calif., Casey Kotchman hit an RBI single in the ninth inning to give Los Angeles a victory over Texas. Francisco Rodriguez, fresh off a save in Tuesday’s All-Star game, pitched a hitless ninth for the win.

Devil Rays 6, Yankees 4: At St. Petersburg, Fla., Scott Kazmir allowed four hits in six innings to outpitch Roger Clemens and help Tampa Bay beat New York. It was Kazmir’s first win at home in more than a year. Josh Wilson and Dioner Navarro each drove in two runs for the Devil Rays.

Blue Jays 6, Red Sox 5: At Boston, Alex Rios had three hits and drove in the go-ahead run, and Shaun Marcum survived a shaky start to win for the first time in nearly a month as Toronto beat the Red Sox.
