Jonathon E. Verkist has been named to serve as bishop of the Coeur d’Alene 1st Ward of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. First counselor is Alando U. Harrison and second counselor is Michael G. Oswald.

Verkist lives in Carlin Bay with his wife and five children and and owns Verkist Construction.

Harrison lives in Coeur d’Alene with his wife and five children. He is a farmer and part-time math instructor at North Idaho College. Oswald and his wife have four children and moved to the area three years ago. He works for Anesthesia Associates of Coeur d’Alene.

New ward executive secretary is Joseph S. Meredith and ward clerk is Timothy R. Smidt.

S. Duane Fletcher has been called to serve as Branch President of the LDS Young Single Adult Branch, which serves the Coeur d’Alene and Hayden Lake Stakes. First counselor is Douglas W. Pulsifer and second counselor is H. Douglas Young, both of Coeur d’Alene.

Fletcher and his wife have four children and have lived in the Post Falls area for 14 years. He works in business management and is a Realtor employed by Coldwell Banker Schneidmiller Realty.

Pulsifer has lived in the area with his wife for the past three years and they have six children and 11 grandchildren. He is a dentist and owns Riverstone Dental Care.

Young and his wife have lived in Kootenai County for many years and have seven children. He is retired from Avista Utilities and plans to serve a mission with his wife.

The executive secretary is Miguel Romero, ward clerk is Brian Williams and financial clerk is Stephen Gearheart.

WoodsTalk Music Festival Fundraiser – today, 2-7 p.m. at the home of Ernie Hawks and Linda Michal, East on Trailsend Road five miles North of the intersection of U.S. Highway 95 and state Highway 54 in Athol. Entertainment includes Spirit Trio, Red Shoes For Nancy, and local singer songwriters Keith Milligan, Michael Robinson, and Tom Searls, vocalist Amie Zahara, pianist George Conrad, and various other local musicians.
