Twins 4, Athletics 3: At Minneapolis, Carlos Silva allowed two hits into the seventh inning, Michael Cuddyer drove in a pair of runs and Minnesota held on to beat Oakland. Silva retired 15 straight hitters at one point.

Royals 6, Indians 5: At Cleveland, Emil Brown hit a three-run homer in the third inning and Kansas City hung on for a win over the Indians. Mark Teahen had three hits and scored three runs, and rookie Billy Butler had three hits and drove in two runs for the Royals.

Red Sox 9, Blue Jays 4: At Boston, David Ortiz hit his first home run at Fenway Park since April, and Eric Hinske and Jason Varitek also homered to help the Red Sox to beat Toronto. Daisuke Matsuzaka was charged with four runs on nine hits and two walks, striking out two in six innings.

Yankees 6, Devil Rays 4: At St. Petersburg, Fla., Bobby Abreu homered and drove in a season-high five runs, helping Chien-Ming Wang overcome a shaky first inning as New York defeated Tampa Bay. Wang allowed seven hits and three runs in six innings.

Angels 9, Rangers 5: At Anaheim, Calif., Vladimir Guerrero, Reggie Willits and Gary Matthews Jr. each had two RBIs and Los Angeles earned a victory over Texas. Kameron Loe lasted just 2 2/3 innings for the Rangers, allowing five runs on five hits and a season-high five.

Orioles 7, White Sox 6 (10): At Baltimore, Nick Markakis singled home the winning run with two outs in the 10th inning, capping a late comeback that carried the Orioles to over Chicago. Kevin Millar and Jay Payton homered for the Orioles.
