In brief: Grant to help kids’ nutrition program

The Spokesman-Review

Spokane Valley Partners announced this week it has received a $2,157.72 community grant from The Fred Meyer Foundation for “5 Colors A Day 4 Kids.”

The program is a nutrition program aimed at providing and teaching kids about the five types of fresh produce they should be eating daily.

Proceeds from the Fred Meyer Foundation grant will allow Spokane Valley Partners to purchase any of the five color groups to assure that that all five colors of fresh produce will be available weekly.

“The Fred Meyer Foundation and its advisory committee members were particularly impressed by the successful track record of Spokane Valley Partners (formally known as the Spokane Valley Community Center and Food Bank) and its programs,” said Glynda Brockhoff, philanthrophy coordinator for Fred Meyer and The Fred Meyer Foundation.
