Fever flourish in rally over winless Mystics

Tan White had a season-high 20 points and the Indiana Fever, scoreless from the field for a WNBA-record 13:32 to start the game, rallied to beat the winless Washington Mystics 70-66 Sunday night at Indianapolis.

The Fever (4-0) had 10 of their franchise-record 29 turnovers in the first quarter and did not make a field goal until Tully Bevilaqua’s layup at 6:28 of the second period. Washington (0-6) led by as many as seven during the sloppy first half.

Liberty 83, Mercury 82: At New York, Jessica Davenport’s three-point play with 6.9 seconds left helped the Liberty remain unbeaten with a victory over Phoenix.

Loree Moore had a career-high 22 points and Davenport added 15 for New York, off to its best start since opening the WNBA’s inaugural 1997 season 7-0. Erin Thorn scored 11 points, and Cathrine Kraayeveld had 10 points and 13 rebounds.

Sky 78, Lynx 72: At Chicago, Candice Dupree had 20 points and 11 rebounds to help the Sky beat Minnesota.

The Lynx came into the game shooting a WNBA-worst 35.4 percent and missed its first ten shots as Chicago took a 20-4 lead with 2:49 left in the first quarter.
