In brief: Street fair planned Saturday

The Spokesman-Review

A South Side organic grocery business is sponsoring a street fair on Saturday at 25th Avenue and Monroe Street with music, crafts, artists, local farm goods and other products.

The Local Flair Street Fair is being revived after a one-year break and a move to a new location. Saturday’s event will be held outside a commercial building at 25th Avenue and Monroe and Wilson Elementary School, which is located next to the business building. The event runs from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m.

It is being sponsored by Fresh Abundance, a membership-based whole foods outlet operating out of commercial space at 1001 W. 25th Ave.

Similar street fairs were held in 2004 and 2005 on Madison Street downtown, said Ellicia Milne, of Fresh Abundance, which has nearly 800 members.

The free event will include hands-on activities for children and booths for local products, businesses and organizations. A portion of the proceeds will go toward a community action organization – People for Environmental Action & Community Health (PEACH).
