Police recommend charges against Jones

NEW YORK — Las Vegas police recommended Wednesday that prosecutors charge Tennessee Titans cornerback Pacman Jones with felony coercion and misdemeanor threat and battery charges for the NFL star’s role in a February strip club brawl — the same charges investigators suggested in March, spokesman Jose Montoya said.

Clark County District Attorney David Roger received a report about the NBA All-Star Game weekend incident from Las Vegas police late Wednesday.

“We have the report, and we are reviewing it,” spokeswoman Kathy Karstedt said.

Las Vegas police have been unable to link a Feb. 19 fight at Minxx Gentleman’s Club they claim was instigated by Jones with the shooting that occurred later that morning. Manager Tommy Urbanski, a former pro wrestler from Long Island, N.Y., was left paralyzed. Two other people were also injured.

Within the last month, Vegas police reportedly traveled to Jones’ home in Atlanta to collect saliva samples to determine if DNA gathered at the club came from Jones. Jones’ agent Michael Huyghue said tests came back negative.

Jones has had 10 encounters with police and five arrests since he was drafted by the NFL’s Titans in 2005.
