Introduction to Buddhism

The Soka Gakkai International-USA will offer a seminar called “The Winning Life: An Introduction to Buddhist Practice” at 1 p.m. today at the Downtown Library, Room 1A, 906 W. Main Ave.

The seminar will cover the practice of Buddhism as taught by Nichiren Daishonin.

The public is invited to attend, and admission is free.

Buddhist service

The Spokane Buddhist Temple will host a special service at 10:30 a.m. Sunday at the temple, 927 S. Perry St.

The service will feature Bhante Seelawimala, professor of Buddhist studies at the Institute of Buddhist Studies in Berkeley, Calif., and Sri Lankan Theravada monk.

All are invited to attend.

Gospel concert

The Spokane Falls Community College Gospel Choir will perform Thursday at 7 p.m. in the SFCC Music and Performing Arts Building, 3410 W. Fort George Wright Drive.

The group’s concert is called “I Speak Life.” The cost is $5 for adults and $3 for seniors, students and military (children under 5 admitted free).
