Paris Hilton may be a free woman, but Lindsay Lohan is out of circulation for a while.

Lohan, who checked into rehab after a wild Memorial Day weekend, plans to stay a little longer, her mother says.

“She’s going to be doing extended care,” Dina Lohan says. “It was her choice.”

The younger Lohan – who turns 21 on Monday – entered rehab in Malibu, Calif., after she crashed her Mercedes Benz into a curb.

It was her second stint this year. Lohan in January had checked into a rehabilitation center for substance abuse treatment.

Dina Lohan, who appeared this week for a family court hearing in New York, says she speaks with her daughter every day.

“She’s doing great,” her mom said.

A judge ordered Dina Lohan and her estranged husband, Michael Lohan, to attend family therapy with the aim of gradually reuniting him with Lindsay’s younger sisters, ages 13 and 11.

“They were my entire life,” says Michael Lohan, who himself recently left prison after serving time for drunken driving and attempted assault. “I miss them tremendously.”

No princely sums?

NBC News, which supposedly was willing to pay $1 million for the first post-prison Paris interview, is denying reports that it snagged its exclusive with Britain’s Princes William and Harry as a result of a $2.5 million deal to air the upcoming Princess Diana Tribute Concert.

“When the concert deal was signed, (the princes) hadn’t decided they were even going to do an interview,” said Matt Lauer, whose sitdown with the late Diana’s sons was broadcast on NBC’s “Today” show last week.

Sunday’s concert airs live on VH1, with Lauer hosting an hour of taped highlights on NBC.

Rehooked and cut loose

Speaking of the royals, Prince William and former girlfriend Kate Middleton have resumed their relationship, according to the British press, and will attend the tribute concert together.

But it’s over between Reese Witherspoon and Jake Gyllenhaal, reports People.com. Witherspoon and ex-hubby Ryan Phillippe split in October after seven years and two kids.

The original ‘X’ man

Hugh Hefner‘s Playboy lifestyle is set to hit the big screen.

The film, approved by the 81-year-old Hef last week, will be produced by Brian Grazer, who won the best picture Oscar in 2002 for “A Beautiful Mind,” and directed by Brett Ratner, whose credits include the “Rush Hour” movies and “X-Men: The Last Stand.”

People you’d like to meet

And speaking of sex, country singer Carrie Underwood and “Tonight Show” bandleader Kevin Eubanks have been voted the “world’s sexiest vegetarians” in PETA’s annual contest.

Last year’s winners were musician Prince and actress Kristen Bell (“Victoria Mars”).
