In brief: Munson elected head of AWC

The Spokesman-Review

Spokane Valley councilman Richard Munson has been elected president of the Association of Washington Cities, a position that also includes chairing the board of directors and presidency of the AWC Risk Management Corporation.

Munson, who has served on Spokane Valley’s Council since the city’s incorporation in 2003, was elected at the AWC’s annual business meeting on June 15.

Munson said he looks forward to helping determine the direction of the organization and its staff. “It’s a great honor,” he said of his election to the office, “and humbling to be selected by my colleagues.”

Munson will serve as AWC’s top elected official for a year. He has been a member of the organization since his election to the Spokane Valley City Council in 2003, and has served on its board of directors since June of 2003.
