Campers, we want to hear your tales

The Spokesman-Review

Each year, The Spokesman-Review produces a summer camp guide with camp listings and stories telling parents things they need to know about sending their kids to camp.

These year, we’d like to give the campers a chance to do the talking.

We’re looking for essays, stories or poems about summer camp. Tell us what you like (or don’t like) about going to camp. Feel free to offer advice to younger kids going to camp for the first time. It’s up to you.

Kids from kindergarten through high school are welcome to participate. We’ll run as many submissions as we can in our summer camp guide, which will be distributed on April 15.

Submissions can be long or short but should be no more than 250 words. They can be handwritten or typed but e-mail attachments are preferred.

Please include the following:

•Writer’s name, age, grade, and where you go to school

•Name of parent or guardian

•Address and phone number (for verification only – won’t be published)

Send your essays to features@spokesman.com with the subject heading “Summer Camp essay,” or send by mail to: The Spokesman-Review, Summer Camp Essays, 999 W. Riverside Ave., Spokane, WA 99201.

This is not a contest. It’s just for fun. There are no winners or prizes.

All entries must be received by 5 p.m. on March 19.

If you have questions, contact features editor Ken Paulman at kenp@spokesman.com or (509) 459-5480.
