Colfax girls roll over Seattle Christian in State 1A opener

YAKIMA – Jordan Harazin scored 14 points and Lauren Mellor added 13 as fourth-ranked Colfax swept past Seattle Christian 55-23 to open the girls State 1A basketball tournament Wednesday.

Colfax (26-2), the three-time defending 1A champ, posted a 19-9 run in the first quarter and was never challenged after that. The Bulldogs outscored the Warriors (18-6) 24-7 in the second half.

Mellor added seven rebounds, five assists and five steals.

Colfax’s defense mustered 14 steals and helped force Seattle Christian into 26 turnovers.

Colfax shot 22 of 40 from the floor and 8 of 12 from the free-throw line. The Warriors shot 10 of 33 from the field and 1 of 8 from the line.
