Five people at Ziggy’s in Greenacres were asked the following question: When was the last time you talked to your neighbor and why?

Jenny Barth: “This morning. I talk to her all the time. She was telling me about her grandson in California. It’s 70 degrees there and she’s jealous.”

Boni Barta: “Last week. They live a half a mile from us. She called to give me information about another neighbor, then we caught up on family events.”

Joe Shanholtzer: It was two or three weeks ago. We talked about the new police chief in Spokane … office politics.”

Tom Torvik: “Not too long ago I asked him to take in my dog because I was working overtime. In the winter, neighbors hibernate. In the summer, we have garage socials.”

Dan Horwath: “It was the first Saturday in February at 2 a.m. They were making a racket. I pounded on the wall to no avail. I went to his door and said, ‘It’s 3 a.m. and I want to go to bed!’ ”
