Sonics’ Fortson misses function for second time this week

From Wire Reports The Spokesman-Review

The Seattle SuperSonics’ difficulties with troubled forward Danny Fortson continue.

Fortson was a no-show at the team’s practice at Suffolk University in Boston on Thursday afternoon, prompting coach Bob Hill to spend the evening considering what punishment to mete out to the oft-injured player.

It’s the second time on this four-game, seven-day trip that Fortson has skipped a team function, having missed the morning shootaround at Madison Square Garden in New York on Tuesday morning. Fortson was in uniform but did not play in Seattle’s victory against the Knicks.

Hill insinuated that Fortson’s punishment might be more severe after this latest transgression, particularly since Fortson deliberately disobeyed his coach.

“My rule has always been if you miss the walkthrough, you don’t play,” Hill said.

“This is a practice. I have to think about this one. So, no comment. I don’t know yet.”
