People: ‘Who’ll kiss me?’ asks Kate

From Wire Reports The Spokesman-Review

Kate Walsh has something in common with the sexy surgeon she plays on ABC’s hit medical drama “Grey’s Anatomy” – love issues.

Long work days have left little time for her personal life, Walsh tells Best Life magazine.

“Sometimes I feel like, ‘What am I doing? Am I becoming my character, or is my character becoming me?’ ” she says.

“I definitely identify with my character in that, romantically at least, this is not where I thought I’d be at 39.”

Walsh was a regular on “The Drew Carey Show” and appeared on other series including “Karen Sisco” and “The Fugitive” before getting her big break on “Grey’s.”

ABC is planning to air a special two-hour episode featuring Walsh and guest star Taye Diggs as a test run for a possible new series.

“Often, I think it would have been so great if this success had happened when I was 27 or 28,” Walsh says, “but then again, I wouldn’t have had the maturity then to deal with it and not end up in rehab.”

Eating their words

Speaking of Kates, Kate Winslet was awarded substantial libel damages Friday from a British women’s magazine that wrongly reported she had visited a diet doctor.

Grazia magazine said Winslet – known for her criticism of excessive dieting – visited a Chinese herbalist for help with her weight. Her lawyer said it was for a neck injury.

Runnin’ from the devil

And speaking of rehab, it’s official: Eddie Van Halen is entering a treatment program.

“At the moment I do not feel that I can give you my best,” Van Halen, reportedly battling the bottle, told fans in a Web posting.

It’s unknown whether the guitarist will attend his band’s induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame on Monday.

Out of his world

Lance Bass will tell “all about his life, his music and his sexuality” in an upcoming autobiography.

“Out of Sync,” scheduled for October publication, will be a behind-the-scenes look at the openly gay singer’s days in boy band ‘N Sync, as well as failed attempt to go on a Russian space mission.

No ugly babies

Next up for Salma Hayek is a wedding – and a baby carriage.

The 40-year-old actress and “Ugly Betty” producer is engaged to businessman Francois-Henri Pinault and pregnant with their first child, her spokeswoman said Friday.

Devil’s workshop, indeed

Antonella Barba may have been booted off “American Idol” this week, but her career could be just beginning.

Barba, the apparent subject of racy photos that have surfaced online, has been offered $250,000 by “Girls Gone Wild” kingpin Joe Francis to host one of his videos.

Playboy founder Hugh Hefner has also expressed interest in having her pose.
