College women: Oklahoma wins Big 12 title game

Leah Rush matched a season-high with 18 points and No. 11 Oklahoma used a series of big runs to surge past resilient Iowa State for a 67-60 win in the Big 12 championship game Saturday night at Oklahoma City.

The second-seeded Sooners (26-4) opened the game with an 11-0 run, but they had to fight back with two more double-digit runs after the Cyclones (25-8) claimed an eight-point second-half lead.

Rush had a jumper and a 3-pointer to finish Oklahoma’s second 11-point run of the game and put the Sooners on top 38-35. Backup point guard Kendra Moore added a pair of 3-pointers in a 15-0 surge that allowed them to pull away for a 57-42 lead.

MAC: (20) Bowling Green 67, Ball State 53: At Cleveland, Ali Mann scored 20 points and the Falcons (27-3) earned a third straight trip to the NCAA tournament with a win over the Cardinals (24-6) in the conference title game.

Big Sky: Idaho State 84, Northern Arizona 78: At Missoula, Natalie Dome scored 24 points and grabbed 16 rebounds to lead the Bengals (17-13) to a victory over the Lumberjacks (20-12) in the conference championship and earned a bid into the NCAA tournament.

WAC: Boise State 49, New Mexico State 46: At Las Cruces, N.M., Kasha Harris scored 10 of her 13 points in the second half and the top-seeded Broncos (24-8) beat the Aggies (13-18) to win the conference title game and advance to the NCAA tournament.

Mountain West: New Mexico 63, BYU 49: At Las Vegas, tournament MVP Dionne Marsh scored 20 points and rescued New Mexico from a second-half collapse, leading the Lobos (23-8) past the Cougars (23-9) in the conference championship.

Big West: UC Riverside 70, UC Santa Barbara 67: At Anaheim, Calif., Serum Betony made a jumper with 17.6 seconds to play to give the Highlanders (21-10) the win over the Gauchos (17-13) in the conference title game.

Big South: UNC Ashville 67, Radford 57: At Asheville, N.C., Amanda Elder scored 14 of her 16 points in the second half and the Bulldogs (21-11) qualified for the NCAA tournament with a win over the Highlanders (20-11) in the conference title game.

Southland Conference: Texas-Arlington 68, Stephen F. Austin 47: At Houston, Terra Wallace scored 22 points to help the Mavericks (24-8) earn an NCAA tournament berth by beating the Ladyjacks (21-11) in the conference championship.

MEAC: Delaware State 55, Morgan State 42: At Raleigh, N.C., Kareem Palmer had 17 points and 11 rebounds to help the Hornets (20-12) claim their first NCAA tournament berth with a win over the Bears (18-13) in the conference championship game.

SWAC: Prairie View A&M 68, Jackson State 62: At Birmingham, Ala., Candice Thomas scored 26 points to lead the Lady Panthers (19-13) to a victory over the Lady Tigers (22-10) in the conference title game.

Atlantic Sun: Belmont 69, East Tennessee State 57: At Dothan, Ala., Alyssa Clark scored 11 of her 22 points in the final 5 minutes and the Bruins (25-6) beat the Lady Bucks (20-11) to earn an automatic bid into the NCAA tournament.

Northeast Conference: Robert Morris 68, Sacred Heart 66: At Coraopolis, Pa., Chianti Nesbit scored 28 points to lead the Colonials (24-7) past the Pioneers (22-10) in the conference title game and into the NCAA tournament.
