Ferris coach deserving

Last week, your paper announced the winter sports all-league teams. It was shocking to read that Ferris boys coach Don Van Lierop was not recognized as the Coach of the Year.

Yes, Ferris had an abundance of talent, unmatched by any other GSL team.

Finishing 29-0 with possibly the finest and most balanced GSL team in recent history success was achieved because of coach Van Lierop’s mature, knowledgeable and patient efforts to motivate and manage his fine athletes.

Don’s journey to be the successful coach that he is today is one that serious GSL observers and Ferris followers recognize. Take a bow, Coach, and let’s all look forward to next year.
