Book sale will benefit Moran Library

If you’ve been doing any spring cleaning, you may be wondering what to do with all of those gently-used books that have been piling up in your house.

The Friends of the Moran Prairie Library, 6004 S. Regal St., can help you unload some of those.

On June 8, the library will hold its annual sale to raise money for its various programs, including the summer reading program for children. Books, tapes, CDs, movies, books on tape and software will be accepted at the library, or if you have large quantities to donate, you can call for pickup.

The library can’t accept weekly magazines for the sale, such as Newsweek or Time, but magazines such as Martha Stewart Living or Architectural Digest are hot sellers, according to Mary Kay Anderson, the branch supervisor for the library and liaison to the Friends of the Moran Prairie Library.

The most popular items for sale seem to be fiction, cookbooks and children’s materials.

Volunteers are also needed to collect and sort books, distribute fliers and work in two-hour shifts during the sale, which will be from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
