Man accused of fraudulent returns

The Spokesman-Review

A former Greenacres resident now living in Nevada faces three counts of filing fraudulent income tax returns.

Andy James, 38, also known as Andrew James Hensley, was indicted by a federal grand jury on the charges, according to a press release from James A. McDevitt, the U.S. attorney for the Eastern District of Washington.

James was arraigned today on the charges and was released on conditions that would allow him to leave Nevada to attend court in Washington.

The indictment alleges James filed false refund claims for $5,689 in 2001, $9,596 in 2002 and $17,606 in 2003.

Each count carries a maximum penalty of five years in prison, a $250,000 fine and up to three years of court supervision after release and restitution.
