Holy Week services, events planned

On Palm Sunday, Holy Monday and Holy Tuesday at 7 p.m., Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church, 1703 N. Washington St., will celebrate a bridegroom service.

The service will discuss the readiness for Christ at his Second Coming and will prepare to observe his death on the cross.

At 7 p.m. Wednesday, the church will celebrate the service of holy unction.

Church members will be anointed with sacramental oil to heal their souls and bodies to complete the Lenten season of repentance and preparation.

Country Homes Christian Church, 8415 N. Wall St., is presenting the movie “The Passion of the Christ” Sunday at noon. The event will feature a potluck lunch.

St. Peter Lutheran Church, 4620 N. Regal St., will present Palm Sunday worship services with a Procession of the Palms at 10 a.m.

The service will include a readers theater of the Gospel of Luke.

Baroque concert

First Presbyterian Church, 318 S. Cedar St., will host Allegro Baroque and Beyond with Steve Goodenberger on Friday at 8 p.m.

There will be a preconcert discussion at 7:15 p.m.

The concert will celebrate the March birthdays of Vivaldi, Telemann, J.S. Bach and C.P.E. Bach and the February birthday of Handel.

Tickets are $10 to $25 and are available through TicketsWest at 325-SEAT.

Pilgrim Lutheran Church, 2733 W. Northwest Blvd., will present Double Portion Ministries on Saturday.

Double Portion Ministries consists of Louise Padia and Sandra Major, identical twins who were involved in a cult in Southern California but later became Christians.

The church will open its doors at 8:30 a.m. for coffee and pastries, which will be for sale.

The twins will speak from 9:30 to 11 a.m. They also will sign copies of their book, “Walking on High Places,” on Friday at 7:30 p.m. at Auntie’s Bookstore. For more information, call the church office at 325-5738.

Spiritual Cinema

The Unity Center of North Spokane, 4123 E. Lincoln Road, will present the movie “Illusion,” starring Kirk Douglas and Michael Goorjian, on Friday at 7 p.m., Saturday at 2 p.m. and Sunday at 1 p.m.

Admission is a $10 donation.

Palm Sunday breakfast

Mary Queen Parish, 3423 E. Carlisle Ave., will hold its annual Palm Sunday breakfast from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

The cost is $6 for adults and $4 for children 6 to 12 years old.
