Trooper leads state in DUI arrests

The Spokesman-Review

For the third year in a row, a Washington State Patrol trooper from the Spokane office has led the state in DUI arrests.

This year Spokane-area troopers took the top two spots, said WSP spokesman Trooper Mark Baker. John McKee arrested 216 drunken drivers, and Barry Marcus arrested 210 during 2006.

The men were among several troopers given traffic safety awards last week, including troopers in Davenport, Colfax and Colville, Baker said.

Information sought on drug suspect

Secret Witness is offering a reward for information leading to the capture of a man wanted on several cocaine-related charges.

Ryan Scott Dunlavy, 36, is wanted for two charges of cocaine possession and three counts of delivering cocaine.

Dunlavy recently posted a $32,000 bond but has since skipped out.

He is 6 feet tall, weighs 180 pounds and has hazel eyes and brown hair. His last known address is 928 N. Perry St.

Anyone with information is asked to call (509) 327-5111. Callers can remain anonymous and still get the cash reward.

Democrats coming for state convention

Washington Democrats will hold their state convention in Spokane next year, making the Lilac City the site for both major parties’ biennial state meetings.

The Washington Democratic Central Committee chose Spokane over Seattle as the convention site at its quarterly meeting over the weekend, after presentations from party officials in each county. Democrats will be meeting the weekend of June 14 – likely in the new Convention Center, although contracts haven’t been signed.

Republicans will be in Spokane the weekend before, also planned for the convention center.
