Area Girl Scouts recently collected donations of their cookies to be included in care packages for newly deployed soldiers.

The Troop to Troop Project raised 797 cases of Girl Scout cookies between Feb. 4 and April 15. That number is more than triple of those cookies raised in last year’s project.

The Girl Scouts Inland Empire Council said that 2,276 local Scouts collected the cookies, and included handwritten thank you letters to the soldiers.

The cookies were delivered to Fairchild Air Force Base on April 23 and will be distributed to the troops.
