Community update: Readings will help cast compete nationally

The cast of “Assassins” is going to the American Association of Community Theatre National Competition, and you can help them on their way.

Spokane Civic Theatre’s staged readings of “Lonely Planet” on Wednesday and Sunday will help raise funds for the cast to head to the competition in Charlotte, N.C., in June. Both performances will begin at 7:30 p.m.

Lewis and Clark car wash

On Saturday, Lewis and Clark High School Band and Orchestra members will be holding a benefit car wash to raise money for the LC instrumental music program.

The event will be in front of the LC Field House on Fourth Avenue, between Stevens and Washington, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Proceeds will help pay for extra sectional instruction, uniform costs and festival participation.

Stamp out hunger

The 15th annual Letter Carriers Food Drive to benefit Second Harvest Inland Northwest will be Saturday.

Postal patrons are invited to leave nonperishable food donations in the designated food drive bags on their porch before 9 a.m. Donations also may be dropped off at local post offices.

Luncheon, fashion show

A Spring Fashion Fantasy will be held at the Coeur d’Alene Resort Convention Center.

The afternoon luncheon and fashion show is from 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. and will feature fashion, food, prizes and a raffle. Raffle prizes include services at the Coeur d’Alene Resort Spa, lunch at Beverly’s, and gifts from Clark Diamond Jewelers.

Tickets are $30 per person, and reservations are required. Proceeds will benefit Cancer and Community Charities.
