WNBA : Storm rally to win from 22 points back

Iziane Castro Marques scored 25 points, and Betty Lennox had 13 second-half points that keyed the Seattle Storm’s rally from down 22 points for an 82-69 win over the Houston Comets on Saturday night in Seattle.

Seattle trailed 60-38 with 5 minutes left in the third quarter, then outscored Houston 44-9 over the final 15 minutes to stun the Comets and ruin Karleen Thompson’s debut as the second coach in Houston’s history.

Lauren Jackson finished with 23 points and nine rebounds, including a half-court shot to end the game. Sue Bird added 11 points, while Marques scored 18 of her points in the first half

Shock 75, Monarchs 68: At Auburn Hills, Mich., Plenette Pierson scored 14 points in 14 minutes of the first half as defending WNBA champion Detroit picked up where it left off with a season-opening win over Sacramento.

Sun 89, Mystics 80: At Washington, Nykesha Sales had 20 points and Connecticut opened the season with a road win for the first time in franchise history by defeating Washington.

Fever 83, Lynx 64: At Indianapolis, Tan White scored 17 points and Tamika Whitmore added 16 to lead Indiana to a victory over Minnesota. Tamika Catchings finished with 12 points and seven rebounds, and Tammy Sutton-Brown had 11 points for the Fever.

Mercury 81, SilverStars 72: At Phoenix, Diana Taurasi scored 20 points and Tangela Smith added 17 to help Phoenix defeat San Antonio. Kelly Miller scored 15 points and Kelly Mazzante had 12 for the Mercury.
