IEL ALL-LEAGUE: Capaul, DeLong take honors

Lake City High pitcher/first baseman Alex Capaul has been named the Inland Empire League’s player of the year.

Capaul (6-1) led the Timberwolves to the State 5A championship last weekend.

LC coach Cory Bridges was named coach of the year. Lewiston pitcher Josh Richardson was named newcomer of the year.

The IEL coaches also announced their all-league team. Joining Capaul on the first team were: pitchers Zach Clanton, a junior from LC; seniors Tyler Lichty from Sandpoint; senior Tyler Knigge from Lewiston; and senior Brandon Haas from Post Falls; infielders Beau Balmer, a junior from Lewiston; Jackson Seaman, a sophomore from Coeur d’Alene; junior Trent Bridges from LC; and junior Cory Hawkins from Sandpoint; catcher, junior Tim Kerr from Lewiston; outfielders, Paul Wimer, a senior from Moscow; Alex Reyes, a senior from CdA; Kyle Johnson, a junior from LC; and Matt Martin, a junior from Lewiston; utility, Shea Vucinich, a senior from CdA; and designated hitter, Adam Carson, a senior from Lewiston.

Named to the second team were: Andy Seaman (CdA), Brett Harris (Lewiston), Chris Combo (LC); Brett Watson (Lewiston); Dan Flanigan (Moscow); Tom Kerr (Lewiston); Scott Carr (Lakeland); Cody Spencer (CdA); Vinny Lupinacci (CdA); Dylan Collinson (LC); Jake Semones (Sandpoint); Tucker Anderson (LC); Levi Blinn (Lewiston); John Rohde (Lewiston); and Taylor Forge (Lewiston).

“For the third time in four years, Jenna DeLong of Coeur d’Alene has been named the player of the year in Inland Empire League softball.

DeLong led the Vikings to a second straight 5A championship last weekend.

Moscow coach Jessica Shawley was named coach of the year. Moscow freshman Brigitte Lowe was named newcomer of the year.

The IEL coaches also announced their all-league team. Joining DeLong on first team were: pitcher, sophomore Blake Meredith from Post Falls; designated player Bri Harbor, a senior from Lake City; catcher, junior Lauran Nagrone from Post Falls; infielders, sophomore Nicole Smith from Moscow; senior Lindsey Stark from CdA; senior Sean Topp from Post Falls; senior Chantal Waide from LC; and senior Harmony Chapman from Lewiston; outfielders, senior Sarah Hawley from Moscow; senior Lauren Bender from Moscow; sophomore Amber Coburn of CdA; senior Kylie Chandler from CdA; and senior Stephanie Ferguson from Sandpoint.

Named to the second team were: Jessia Ulrich (Lewiston), Nancy Charles (Moscow), Shayna Zink (Lewiston), Amanda North (Lakeland), Macaela Brady (Sandpoint), Amanda Brouillard (CdA), Jessica Kraft (CdA), Brianne Joseph (Post Falls), Amy Woodland (Lewiston), Jamie Klopatek (Lakeland), Jessica Ross (LC), Danielle Erickson (CdA), Nicole Redd (Lewiston), Cassie Joseph (Post Falls) and Hailey Petersen (LC).
