Firefighters found a dead man inside a burning Coeur d’Alene home Tuesday.

The man, whose identity was not released Tuesday night, was found in the basement of the home in the 3000 block of Westwood Court, said Coeur d’Alene police spokeswoman Sgt. Christie Wood.

When firefighters arrived at 12:13 p.m., the house was engulfed in flames, and they could not enter to check for people inside, Wood said. Once the fire was contained, firefighters entered and found the body.

The origin of the fire and cause of death were not known Tuesday night.
