In brief: Dogs found on Vick’s land may be euthanized

The Spokesman-Review

Dozens of dogs seized in an investigation into possible dogfighting on land owned by Atlanta Falcons star Michael Vick in Chesapeake, Va., likely would be euthanized if investigators determine they are fighting dogs, the Humane Society said.

Sixty-six dogs, 55 of them pit bulls, were seized April 25 when police conducting a drug investigation raided the house, which Vick owned but said he rarely visited.

No charges have been filed, and the authorities involved said only that the investigation is continuing.

“Suspended Cincinnati Bengals wide receiver Chris Henry has passed his drug screenings, a Kentucky prosecutor and Henry’s attorney Robert Lotz said.

Reports had circulated Monday that Henry, already suspended for eight NFL games and on probation in both Kentucky and Florida for crimes there, had failed a drug test.

“A former Montana State University football player was the leader of a cocaine ring that brought pounds of the drug to Bozeman, according to an affidavit supporting drug trafficking charges against former Bobcats wide receiver Rick Gatewood and his brother, Randy.
