Hints from Heloise

The Spokesman-Review

Dear Heloise: Now that more people are becoming aware of global warming, how about running a series on what we can do to help? My ideas:

•Drive the speed limit and don’t speed. This will save gas and maybe your life.

•In public restrooms, most women push the paper-towel lever about seven times, when two gives you enough to get your hands dry. – Janet in San Diego

Janet, many “green” hints have been around for a long time but are “new” to younger people. Here are three simple hints to help Mother Earth:

•Turn off lights when you leave the room. This saves money and energy.

• Recycle or reuse those plastic store bags! Literally tons end up in your landfill.

• See what your family can do to recycle garbage, newspapers and magazines. They are usually accepted at recycling spots.Heloise
