Education notebook : Ferris to hold fundraising holiday sale

The parents of the class of 2008 at Ferris High School are holding a holiday plant and decorating sale to benefit the senior all-nighter party on graduation night.

Red, white, pink, marble and jingle-bell poinsettias will be available for sale in four, six and eight-inch sizes.

The prices are $6, $12 and $20 and were provided by Colby Greenhouses in Deer Park.

There will also be 14-inch evergreen wreaths for sale, holiday centerpieces and nine-foot aromatic cedar garland strands, all designed by Ferris horticulture students and for sale for $13, $14 and $20.

The parents will be taking orders through Nov. 15 and can be placed by calling 448-3680 or 448-3318. Items will be available for pick-up Dec. 6 between 3 and 7 p.m. in the Ferris cafeteria, 3020 E. 37th Ave.

Orders for $100 or more will be delivered to a single location.

Hunger and Homelessness Awareness Week

Spokane Community College will host a free information fair and educational forum during National Hunger and Homelessness Awareness Week Nov. 14 from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. in the SCC Lair Student Center, Building 6, 1810 N. Green St.

The event will include human service agencies, an art exhibit, the singing group the Voices and speakers.
