Abuse prevention

A local Episcopal Peace Fellowship chapter will host a workshop on child abuse prevention Wednesday at the Episcopal Cathedral of St. John the Evangelist, 127 E. 12th Ave.

The workshop will be from 5:30 to 9 p.m. and a light meal will be provided. Advance registration is required; call (509) 443-6395 or (509) 624-4550.

Tibetan Buddhist scholar

Buddhist scholar Alex Berzin will speak on how to develop a balanced attitude toward life on Thursday 7 to 9 p.m. in Molstead Library’s Todd Hall on the North Idaho College campus in Coeur d’Alene.

His talk is titled “Balanced Sensitivity: Tools for a Happier Life.” The event is free, and the public is welcome.

Missionary conference

Faith Baptist Church in Colville will host several missionaries during a Mission Conference at the church today through Wednesday.

The missionaries will speak at 7 p.m. daily except for Sunday, when they will speak at 9:45 and 11 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. The theme of the conference is “Christ Died for Our Sins.” All are welcome to attend.

Bazaars

“ Emmanuel Presbyterian Church will host its annual fall bazaar today 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. There will be craft items, baked goods, plant and a quilt raffle. A soup, sandwich and pie lunch will be available. The church is at 1926 W. Chelan Ave.

“ Trinity United Methodist Church will have a bazaar and turkey dinner during its annual Fall Festival on Thursday beginning at 4:30 p.m. The turkey dinner will be served 5 to 7. The bazaar will include gifts, crafts, baked goods and more.

The cost of the meal is $9 for adults, $5 for kids ages 6 to 12 and $2 for kids 5 and under.

Concert

Guitarist and folk singer Mark Turnbull will perform in concert with bass player Mark Austin at 7 p.m. today at the North Spokane Unity Center, 4123 E. Lincoln Road, as part of the “Road Less Traveled” concert series.

The duo will also perform at 1 p.m. Sunday at the Coeur d’Alene Unity Center at 4465 N. 15th St. in Coeur d’Alene. Admission to both shows is by donation.
