Owens, Romo make it look easy

Associated Press The Spokesman-Review

Terrell Owens stuck it to the Philadelphia Eagles again.

Nearly two years to the day Owens was banished from the Eagles, the star receiver caught 10 passes for 174 yards and one touchdown to help the Dallas Cowboys dismantle host Philadelphia 38-17 on Sunday night.

Tony Romo threw three TD passes, Marion Barber had 106 total yards and one score and the NFC East-leading Cowboys improved to 7-1 for the first time since 1995.

Eagles coach Andy Reid had a tumultuous week, missing practice Thursday to be in court with his two oldest sons. A judge sentenced Garrett and Britt Reid to prison and likened Reid’s home to a “drug emporium.”

Right from the start, it was clear Reid and the Eagles were in for a tough night.

Donovan McNabb fumbled on the first play from scrimmage, and the Cowboys converted it into their first score, a 2-yard run by Julius Jones.

Owens had a key 23-yard catch on third-and-6 during that drive, and tormented the Eagles all night.

Packers 33, Chiefs 22: At Kansas City, Brett Favre hit Greg Jennings for a 60-yard touchdown pass with 3:05 to go and Green Bay beat the Chiefs, giving Favre victories over each of the other 31 teams in the league.

Kansas City had taken a 22-16 lead with 5:18 left, but Jennings went streaking down the middle of the field. He beat Patrick Surtain and Donnie Edwards for the Packers’ sixth straight road win.

Redskins 23, Jets 20 (OT): At East Rutherford, N.J., Shaun Suisham tied a franchise record with his fifth field goal, a 46-yarder with 7:43 left in overtime, to give Washington a win over New York.

Clinton Portis rushed for 196 yards and a touchdown on 36 carries as the Redskins beat the Jets for the eighth time in nine meetings. Washington had to erase a 14-point deficit to win.

Falcons 20, 49ers 16: At Atlanta, Warrick Dunn became the first Falcons back to run for 100 yards this season, Ovie Mughelli had the first rushing TD of his career and Atlanta won a matchup between two of the league’s worst teams, holding off San Francisco, which has lost six straight.

Dunn rushed for 100 yards on 27 carries, including a 9-yard touchdown, Mughelli scored on a 1-yard plunge and Morten Andersen handled the rest of the scoring for the Falcons with a couple of fourth-quarter field goals.

Titans 20, Panthers 7: At Nashville, Tenn., Vince Young and LenDale White each ran for a touchdown, and Albert Haynesworth had three of the Titans’ season-high seven sacks as Tennessee beat Carolina for its third straight victory. White finished with 100 yards, his third straight game with 100 or more yards.

The Titans held the Panthers to a season-low 191 yards total offense.

Buccaneers 17, Cardinals 10: At Tampa, Fla., Jeff Garcia threw a 37-yard touchdown pass to Joey Galloway, while Earnest Graham scored on a 2-yard run and had his first 100-yard rushing performance as a pro for the victorious Buccaneers.

The Tampa Bay defense limited Arizona to a season low 195 yards for the game.

Bills 33, Bengals 21: At Orchard Park, N.Y., rookie running back Marshawn Lynch threw for a touchdown and scored another rushing, sparking a win over Cincinnati.

It was a breakout performance for Lynch, who had a career-best 153 yards rushing, including a 56-yard TD run that put the game away with 2:22 remaining. He also had an 8-yard touchdown pass to Robert Royal.

Vikings 35, Chargers 17: At Minneapolis, Minnesota rookie Adrian Peterson raced to the NFL’s single-game rushing record with 296 yards and three touchdowns in a victory over San Diego.

The Chargers got a 109-yard runback by Antonio Cromartie of a missed 57-yard field goal just before halftime – breaking the NFL mark by 1 yard – though quarterback Philip Rivers had one of his worst games and LaDainian Tomlinson was largely ineffective.

Saints 41, Jaguars 24: At New Orleans, Drew Brees threw for 445 yards and three touchdowns, and Mike McKenzie returned an interception 75 yards for a score as the Saints won their fourth straight.

Brees’ 35 completions on 49 attempts without an interception, and Reggie Bush scored touchdowns on a short run and a short reception.

Texans 24, Raiders 17: At Oakland, Sage Rosenfels connected with Andre’ Davis on a 42-yard touchdown pass midway through the fourth quarter that helped Houston snap a three-game skid.

Ron Dayne rushed for a season-high 122 yards for the Texans.
