U-Hi craft fair this weekend

The University High School Craft and Antique Fair is scheduled Saturday and Sunday at the school gymnasium, 32nd Avenue and Pines Road.

Admission is $2 for adults, and children are admitted free. The fair will include holiday gifts, decorations, home décor, antiques and skilled crafters. Hours are 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., Saturday and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday.

The fair is presented by the U-Hi Instrumental Music Association. For more information, call 928-8016.

City offices to be closed Monday

City of Spokane Valley offices will be closed on Monday in observance of Veterans Day. Offices will reopen on Tuesday.

Eat, drink Friday at Cork and Keg

The Spokane Cork and Keg Festival will be Friday at the Mirabeau Park Hotel, 1100 N. Sullivan Road from 7-10 p.m.

More than 100 wines and 30 microbrews and hors d’oeuvres, prepared by Inland Northwest Culinary Academy students, will be available to taste. Wines and brews can be purchased in the discount wine store, plus additional items will be available in the silent auction.

Tickets priced at $40 are available at Rosauers, Huckleberries, Vino! A Wine Shop and Williams Seafood and Fine Wines.

The event is sponsored by the Washington Restaurant Association-Spokane Chapter.

Students will collect blankets

Adams Elementary School will collect blankets through Friday to give to The Donation Station and the Safe Harbor House. Bring donations to the school, 14707 E. Eighth Ave. For more information, call 228-4000.

Scouts collecting food Saturday

Scouts from across Eastern Washington and North Idaho will be collecting food donations door to door Saturday to benefit Second Harvest’s emergency food network and community food banks.

In Spokane County, Scouts left specialty plastic bags on doorsteps Nov. 3. The scouts will return Saturday morning to collect the bags containing donated food. Supporters of the drive are asked to place donations containing nonperishable food items outside their front door by 9 a.m.

The annual Scouting for Food activity is sponsored by the Inland Northwest Council of the Boy Scouts of America and Rosauers. Those wishing to support the food drive and miss the Scouts collecting bags on Saturday are encouraged to drop off donations at any Rosauers.
