Montana beats Bengals, improves to 10-0

Montana quarterback Cole Bergquist threw for 283 yards and ran for 64 more on Saturday to lead the Grizzlies to a 27-14 victory over Idaho State in Pocatello, Idaho.

The game was tied 14-14 with 9:27 left in the third quarter before Bergquist threw a 21-yard touchdown pass to Rob Schulte to put the Grizzlies ahead for good.

Wide receiver Ryan Bagley had three receptions for 107 yards as Montana finished with 419 yards of total offense.

Montana defensive end Kroy Biermann had seven tackles, two sacks and a blocked field goal.

Dan Carpenter had field goals of 29 and 44 yards for Montana.

Montana State 50, Portland State 36: At Portland, Jack Rolovich passed for 296 yards and four touchdowns and ran for another score as the Bobcats blew open a close game with a huge fourth quarter on the way to a victory over the Vikings.

It was Montana State’s second straight victory over Portland State, and the Bobcats have now won five of the last six against the Vikings.

Sacramento State 20, N. Colorado 17: At Greeley, Colo., Tony Washington hauled in a tipped ball in the end zone on a desperation pass by Jason Smith as time expired to give the Hornets the win over the Bears.

With 3 seconds left, Smith lofted a Hail Mary to the end zone that teammate Ryan Coogler tipped before Washington caught it for the score.

Weber State 48, Fort Lewis 3: At Ogden, Utah, Cameron Higgins threw for 242 yards and three touchdowns as the Wildcats defeated the Division II Skyhawks (1-9).

Higgins completed 14 of 22 passes for the Wildcats while Trevyn Smith ran for 186 yards for Weber State.
