Magic pull victory out of their hat

Dwight Howard matched a career high with 35 points and Orlando’s Hedo Turkoglu tied up LeBron James for a jump ball in the final second of overtime to help the Magic remain unbeaten on the road with a 117-116 win over the Cleveland Cavaliers Wednesday night.

James finished with 39 points, 14 assists and 13 rebounds.

Wizards 103, Pacers 90: At Washington, Gilbert Arenas scored 20 of his 30 points in the first half and finished with 11 assists and six rebounds, leading the Wizards past Indiana.

Jazz 92, Raptors 88: At Toronto, Carlos Boozer had 23 points and 14 rebounds, Deron Williams scored 22 points, and Utah beat the Raptors for its fifth straight victory.

Hawks 117, Bobcats 109: At Atlanta, Joe Johnson scored a season-high 34 points, Josh Childress added 23, also a season best, and the Hawks never trailed in their victory over Charlotte.

Celtics 91, Nets 69: At Boston, the Celtic’s three stars all had decent games but hardly their best of the season. Kevin Garnett had 16 points and eight rebounds, Paul Pierce scored 15 points and Ray Allen had 14 as Boston (7-0) earned its best start in 35 years by defeating New Jersey.

Timberwolves 107, Kings 103: At Minneapolis, Rashad McCants scored a career-high 33 points on 13-for-22 shooting in Minnesota’s first win this season, at the expense of Sacramento.

Hornets 95, 76ers 76: At New Orleans, Morris Peterson hit six 3-pointers and finished with 27 points to help the Hornets defeat Philadelphia for their third straight win.

Bucks 102, Grizzlies 99: At Milwaukee, Desmond Mason hit a 14-foot jumper with 13.6 seconds left, and Memphis’ Pau Gasol missed a tying 3-pointer, giving the Bucks a victory over the Grizzlies.

Nuggets 110, Trail Blazers 93: At Denver, Carmelo Anthony had 25 points and Allen Iverson had 20 as the Nuggets beat Portland.

Kenyon Martin had a season-high 14 points for the Nuggets.

Lakers 93, Houston 90: At Houston, Kobe Bryant scored 30 points and Los Angeles took advantage of Tracy McGrady’s injury to beat the Rockets.

McGrady strained his right elbow late in the first half.

Pistons 111, Warriors 104: At Oakland, Calif., Rasheed Wallace scored 13 of his 22 points during a furious fourth-quarter rally, and Detroit came back from a 22-point deficit to beat Golden State.

Clippers 84, Knicks 81: At Los Angeles, Chris Kaman had 14 points and 18 rebounds, and the Clippers beat New York.

Stephon Marbury rejoined the Knicks after missing one game and being fined $182,000.
