‘GMA’ to put the Resort’s holiday lights on display
ABC’s “Good Morning America” will broadcast live from the Coeur d’Alene Resort on Nov. 28 from 4 to 6 a.m.
The show is sending a crew around the country to do a series of pieces about spectacular holiday lighting displays across the country. The Resort’s display certainly fits in that category.
You can watch it beginning at 7 a.m. that morning (it’s delayed for the Pacific time zone). But if you’re willing to get up early enough, you can go to the Resort and try to get yourself on camera.
KXLY’s “Good Morning Northwest” will also be doing a live broadcast from the Resort the same morning.
A blues harp hurricane
Here’s another reminder of an event that sounds world-class. It’s “Mark Hummel’s Blues Harmonica Blow-Out,” Friday, 8 p.m., at the Mirabeau Park Hotel, 1100 N. Sullivan Road.
Why so good?
Because it features certified blues legend James Cotton, as well as blues harp virtuosos Lee Oskar, formerly of War, James Harman and Mark Hummel.

Hampton honor
By now, you should have heard all about the National Medal of Arts awarded by the White House this week to the Lionel Hampton International Jazz Festival at the University of Idaho.
But you may not be aware of the immensity of this honor. To put it in perspective, here are some of the other recipients over the last three years

A ‘Grace’ benefit
Here’s another benefit showing of the Interplayers’ upcoming “Grace and Glorie.” The performance on Saturday at 8 p.m. will be a benefit for Our Sisters’ Closet of the YWCA.
For that evening only, Interplayers will donate $10 to the YWCA per ticket purchased.

‘Me and Uncle Bing’
Carolyn Schneider, Bing Crosby’s niece, will give a talk and sign copies of her book, “Me and Uncle Bing” on Dec. 7, 3 p.m., at the (where else?) Bing Crosby Theater.
This will be part of the Second Annual Bing Crosby Film Festival, which will also include showings of films, including “Bells of St. Mary’s” and “White Christmas” and performances by Gonzaga University’s Big Bing Theory.
Schneider, who is the daughter of Bing’s sister Mary Rose, was born in Olympia and worked as a contract player at Paramount. She now lives in Las Vegas. Admission to the daylong festival will be free, although a $1 donation will be requested to support the nonprofit Advocates for the Bing Crosby Theater.
Avril in May
Avril Lavigne, the high-spirited rocker, is coming to the Spokane Arena’s Star Theater on May 9, 7 p.m.
The opening act will be Boys Like Girls.
