Brent Perdue, Steve Barnes receive principal awards

Brent Perdue, principal at Madison Elementary School, has received the Terrel H. Bell Award for School Leadership from the U.S. Department of Education.

Perdue is one of six principals nationwide to receive this honor, chosen from the principals of Blue Ribbon-awarded schools.

Steve Barnes, principal at Holmes Elementary School, has received the “Reaching the Whole Child Award” from the Washington State Association for Supervision and Curriculum Development.

Barnes, one of two people in the state to receive this award, was honored for building relationships with parents and community agencies to provide students in need with clothing, breakfast programs and other programs for homeless students.
