Hints from Heloise

The Spokesman-Review

Dear Heloise: I applied nonskid appliques to my tub, and now they’re starting to come off, so I’d like to remove the rest of them and apply some different ones. What can I use to remove the remaining ones without damaging the tub? – Margie, Winchester, Va.

Margie, one of my favorites will get them off nearly every time – ordinary white vinegar. Just saturate a sponge in some hot white vinegar, then squeeze it out over the decals. Wait a few minutes to give the vinegar time to penetrate and soak in, and you should then be able to lift them off, along with any glue.

Vinegar also works well on removing stick-on hooks from painted surfaces – just squeeze a little vinegar behind the hook. Heloise
