Achievements: Area residents graduate from basic military training

The following area residents recently graduated from basic military training at Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio.

Air Force Airman Tyler Bush is the son of Gloria Yingling of Electric City, Wash., and graduated in 2006 from Lake Roosevelt High School, Coulee Dam.

Air Force Airman Daniel Cline of Spokane graduated from University High School in 2004.

Air National Guard Airman 1st Class Victor Hartman is a 1994 graduate of Rogers High School and is the son of Marcia Hartman of Spokane.

Air Force Airman 1st Class Benjamin Heard is the son of Gregory and Laurie Heard of Spokane and graduated from a home school program in 2003.

Air National Guard Airman 1st Class Kalina Schmidt is the daughter of Kerry and Lynda Schmidt of Colbert. She is a 2006 graduate of Northwest Christian High School.

Air National Guard Airman 1st Class Ryan Holcomb is the son of Kevin and Shirley Holcomb of Spokane and graduated in 2005 from Shadle Park High School.

Air National Guard Airman 1st Class David Brown is the son of James Brown of Spokane Valley and graduated from Faith Baptist Academy in 2005.

Army Reserve Pvt. David Barnhart is the son of Mark Barnhart of Medical Lake and is a student at Medical Lake High School.

Army National Guard Pvt. Andrea Carrillo is a student at Moses Lake High School and is the daughter of Octavio Sandoval of Moses Lake.

Army Pvt. Matthew Thomas is the son of Matthew and Laura Thomas Spokane.

Army Sgt. Jeffrey Kromm Jr. graduated in 1998 from Ferris High School and is the son of Annamarie Marsh of Santa Fe, Texas, and Jeffrey Marsh of Spokane.

Army Pvt. Christopher Bennett is the son of Curt Bennett of Ephrata, Wash.

Army Pvt. Anthony Bowen is the son of Kathleen Denton of Coulee City, Wash., and is a 1998 graduate of Creston High School in Creston, Wash.

Army Pvt. Brad Zeober is a 2007 graduate of Havermale High School.

Army National Guard Pfc. Ian Stewart is the son of Melissa Stewart of Spokane and graduated from a home school program in 2001.

Army Pvt. Tyler Osborn is the son of Kelly Osborn of Spokane.

Army Pvt. Justin Richards is the son of Caroline Richards of Loon Lake, Wash.

Army Pvt. Shawn Gundersen is the stepson of Vicki Riggs of Cheney and graduated from Clover Park High School in Lakewood, Wash., in 1992.

Army Pvt. Jason Robins is the son of Tracie Robins of Spokane and graduated in 2000 from Rogers High School.

Erin Haywood is the daughter of Kimberly Bill Fasser of Spokane and graduated from a home school program in 2005.

Casey Olson is the daughter of Bob and Lori Olson of Pullman and is a 2005 graduate of Pullman High School.

Chad Murphy is a 2001 graduate of Mead High School and is the son of Pat and Bonnie Murphy of Mead.

Christopher Scrupps graduated from Odessa High School in 2003 and is the son of Jay Scrupps of Odessa, Wash.

Nancy Shinkle is the daughter of Albert and Sara Shinkle of Pullman and is a 2001 graduate of Port Angeles High School.

Tiffany Nichols is a 2004 graduate of University High School and is the daughter of Daniel and Karen Nichols of Spokane Valley.

Aaron Tran is the son of Thin and Trang Tran of Spokane and a 2004 graduate of Mt. Spokane High School.

James Nevers is the son of John Nevers of Spokane.

Mark Anderson is the son of Glen and Ellen Anderson of Spokane and graduated from Mt. Spokane High School in 2004.

EWU scholarships

Eastern Washington University announced students who were recently honored for their academic achievement.

“The following four students were awarded the Helen and Martin Terzieff.

Samantha Bowen of Chattaroy received $1,000. She is the daughter of Abe and Marlene Bowen and graduated from Riverside High School in 2003.

Lucas Short of Spokane received $1,050. He is the son of Ann Short and is a 1997 Mead High School graduate.

Elmera Takhtrawan of Spokane received $1,050. She graduated from Shadle Park High School 2005 and is the daughter of Jila Peyman.

Krista Morrow of Spokane received $1,050. She is the daughter of Mack and Judy Morrow and graduated in 2003 from Lakeside High School.

“The following three students were awarded Stanley and Bernice Fahlgren scholarships for $1,385.

Jessica Flexer of Spokane graduated from West Valley High School in 2001 and is the daughter of James Flexer and Margaret Macy.

Kelsey Christensen of Spokane is the daughter of Dough McManis and Jill Walker and is a 2005 graduate from 2005 John R. Rogers High School.

Thomas McNeiece of Spokane is the son James McNeiece and Jennette Wallace and graduated from Lewis and Clark High School in 2005.

“The following two students were awarded the Transfer Academic Honors scholarships for $2,500.

Jonathan Hillard of Spokane is a 2004 graduate from Mt. Spokane High School and is the son of Judy Shoaf.

Sara Babcock of Chattaroy is the daughter of Rex and Wendi Babcock and graduated from Riverside High School in 2001.

Kristen Guzman of Spokane was awarded a $1,100 Peter Bozanich Scholarship. She is the daughter of Robert and Gail Barth.

Lisa Brooks of Spokane received a $1,300 Marjorie Benedict-Holman.

Tammi Bard of Spokane was awarded a $950 Stephen and Nadine Spacek Reading Scholarship. She is the daughter of Paul and Janet Wood.

Ronne Walsh of Spokane was awarded a $675 Tod Folsom Burger King Scholarship.

Jamie Stensgar of Inchelium, Wash., was awarded a $1,850 Lawrence and Vera Laughbon Scholarship. She also received a $250 Jean Neils Scholarship. Stensgar is the daughter of Michael and Merna Stensgar and graduated in 2004 from Inchelium High School.
