Hints from Heloise

The Spokesman-Review

Dear Readers: Have you ever had two glasses get stuck together? How do you get them unstuck?

Give this a try: Put cold water in the top glass and dip the bottom one in warm to hot water. Gently pull the glasses apart. Or pour some baby or mineral oil between the glasses, allow to sit for a while and then gently pull them apart. Wash in hot, soapy water and rinse. This should do the trick. – Heloise

Dear Heloise: The sliding exterior doors in my dining room stick badly if not lubricated. I couldn’t find the lubricating oil, so just on a whim I tried the only thing I could find that I thought might help – my nonstick vegetable spray. It worked as well as the oil and did not gum up the track at all! – Coleen D., Omaha, Neb.

Coleen, this is a good one-time fix, but over time the vegetable spray will attract dirt and gunk and will gum up. Heloise
