NHL: Panthers rally late, win in shootout

Nathan Horton tied the game with 10.2 seconds left in regulation and Jozef Stumpel scored the only shootout goal to give the Florida Panthers a 2-1 victory over the Montreal Canadiens on Tuesday night in Montreal.

Stumpel, Florida’s third shooter, beat Cristobal Huet after Ville Peltonen and Horton had failed before him to give the Panthers the win.

Flyers 4, Thrashers 0: At Philadelphia, Jeff Carter and Sami Kapanen scored 34 seconds apart in the second period, and goalie Martin Biron stopped 31 shots to lead the Flyers past winless Atlanta.

Avalanche 5, Flames 4 (SO): At Denver, Ryan Smyth scored twice and then had the decisive goal in the shootout as Colorado rallied from a four-goal deficit to beat Calgary. Jarome Iginla had two goals and an assist for the Flames.

Kings 4, Wild 3 (SO): At Los Angeles, Dustin Brown, Patrick O’Sullivan and Anze Kopitar scored shootout goals to lift the Kings over Minnesota.
