The Spokane County Parks and Recreation Men’s and Women’s Basketball League is looking for players.

The eight-game season begins Nov. 26 and ends with a double-elimination tournament. Team registration is $320 and player fees are $320 for eight players. Additional players are $40 each. Fees and registration are due Nov. 8.

Let’s play some dodgeball

The Spokane County Parks and Recreation is holding its Haunting Halloween Hit and Run Dodgeball Tournament on Oct. 26 beginning at 6:30 p.m. at North Side and Valley locations.

Registration deadline is Oct. 17. Cost is $60 per team. All players will receive a T-shirt and winners will receive trophies. The tournament will also award prizes for best individual costume and best team costume. Quilt show starts Friday

Thousands of quilters from throughout the Pacific Northwest will be making their yearly pilgrimage to the Washington State Quilters’ annual Quilt Show.

This year’s three-day event, “Enchanted Garden,” begins Friday at the Spokane County Fair and Expo Center, 404 N. Havana St.

Georgie Gerl of Spokane, known for her stained glass and quilt designs, is the show’s featured quilter and will give several lectures during the run of the show.

Open to the public, this mega event features more than 500 quilts, a merchants’ mall with the latest quilting supplies and hourly demonstrations.

The doors open each day at 10 a.m. and close on Friday at 8 p.m., Saturday at 7 p.m. and Sunday at 5 p.m. Admission is $7 for all three days. Children 11-years-old and under are admitted free.

Octobrewfest benefits MS

The Inland Northwest Chapter of the National Multiple Sclerosis Society is holding Octobrewfest, a microbrew tasting and auction, Saturday at the Spokane Fair and Expo Center.

The event starts at 6 p.m. and features an evening of sampling brew from northwest breweries and bidding on silent and live auction items. Patrons must be at least 21 years old. Admission includes four beer sample tokens, commemorative mug, and beer and auction catalogue.
