In brief: Volkssport hosts water district walk

The Spokesman-Review

The Lilac City Volkssport Association will host the Liberty Lake Sewer and Water District “Autumn Wonders Walk” on Saturday.

Participants can choose between a 6.2-mile walk and a 3.1-mile walk. Both leave from the water district office at 22510 E. Mission Ave.

The free event is open to the public. People can begin the walk anytime between 8 a.m. and noon. “However,” said member Barb Midkiff, “everyone has to be back by 3 p.m.” For more information, contact Midkiff at 255-9615.

Community Center workshop planned

If you haven’t yet let the Liberty Lake City Council know what you want to see in the new community center, there will be a public design workshop on Wednesday at 5:30 p.m. at the Trailhead Golf Course, 1102 N. Liberty Lake Road.

CHENEY

Fire Memories Museum open

Talk about bells and whistles.

A new Fire Memories Museum in Cheney has hundreds of them.

In fact there are more than 2,200 historical fire items in this unique museum opening to the public, by appointment-only, beginning Monday.

A few of the more dazzling pieces include five fire trucks dating from a 1924 Model T Ford chemical engine to a 1971 Seagrave purchased recently from the Cheney Fire Department.

Call Robert and Carolyn Green at 235-2888 to set up a time to visit. Go online to firememories.org for more information and a map to the museum at 3311 W. Jennings Road, off the Cheney-Spangle Road.
