23 motor vehicle accidents this week

Donna Tam Staff writer

Calls to the Spokane Valley Fire Department increased slightly this week. Of 211 total calls, 23 were motor vehicle accidents, probably due to the earlier nightfall, said spokesman Bill Clifford.

The decreased visibility is making it more dangerous for motorists. Details of injuries and transports to hospitals were not available.

Several of the 15 fire calls this week, including a structure fire and two brush fires, were in the Man O’War Court area, east of Sullivan Road, north of 32nd Avenue. All occurred within a few days of each other. The sources have not been identified yet.

Other calls this week included: 155 EMS calls; nine fire alarms, all either minor or false alarms; four service calls, three for children locked in cars; and four hazardous materials calls, including two gas-line breaks due to digging. Clifford reminds residents to have gas lines located before digging.
